We regard our abstract drawings as traces.

They are not merely shapes on paper, but remnants of something that has happened:

signs of movement, the scuff marks of time, the echo of an unconsidered gesture.

Every line, every beginning and every end of a line, and every surface is an expression 

of a moment in which communication took place through, rhythm and colour. 

In this way, the drawing becomes a visual record of a dialogue, an echo of an action 

that took place between us.

These traces do not tell a linear story, but a fragmentary one—like memory, like emotion.

They carry the past within them, yet remain open to new interpretations. In this openness 

lies the power of abstraction:  it invites us to find our place within it, to lose ourselves and to 

bring our own experiences into it – regardless of language, time or cultural context.
